What we believe

Scripture

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings. They are the complete revelation of His will for salvation and life. As such they are the supreme and final court of appeal.

God

We believe in one God, Almighty, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit—the Trinity.

God The Father

We believe that the Father is true God; the architect of creation and salvation. He sends the Son and the Holy Spirit to accomplish His sovereign purposes.

God The Son

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God; was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit; was born of a virgin; as true man He lived a completely sinless, perfect life; He accomplished our salvation by dying for the sins of men; was bodily raised and ascended to the right hand of the Father where He ministers as our High Priest and Advocate; and His return is personal and imminent.

God The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is true God. His ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ; to convict men of their sin; to regenerate sinners; and to indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living, service and fellowship. The Holy Spirit is sovereign in the bestowing of all His gifts for the perfecting of the saints. While some gifts are given for use throughout the entire church age, other gifts were bestowed for specific times and purposes—for example “sign gifts” (such as tongues) were never intended to be characteristic of the lives of believers for all ages.

Man and Sin

We believe that man was created by God in His image and likeness, and was created to glorify God and enjoy His fellowship. In Adam’s sin (the Fall), the image of God was defaced, but not erased. Man incurred the penalty of spiritual and physical death, and became subject to the wrath of God. Thus, all people are now born with a sinful nature.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is wholly of God by grace on the basis Christ’s redemptive work on the cross, not at all on the basis of human merit or works. As sheep follow their Shepherd, so genuine saving faith will evidence itself in bearing genuine spiritual fruit.

The Church

We believe that the true church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ, who Himself is the Head.

Ordinances

We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the ordinances given to the church by the Lord and are to be observed by the church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation.

Great Commission

We adhere to Christ’s command known as the Great Commission to preach the gospel—the only means of salvation—to the whole world.

Last Things

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust at the return of Christ. The saints will be blessed eternally as they worship in the presence and glory of God. The lost will pay the penalty of eternal destruction away from the presence and glory of God.
