Sign Gifts
We believe that the Spirit of God gifts all believers to build up the body. However, while some gifts are given for use throughout the entire church age, other gifts were bestowed for specific times and purposes—for example “sign gifts” such as tongues and prophecy were never intended to be characteristic of the lives of believers for all ages. Therefore we chose not to have those gifts as a part of the life of our church.
Bible Translation
We are blessed to have many good and accurate translations of the Bible in English. We do not believe that any one English translation is inspired and to be used exclusively.
We encourage all the saints to choose an accurate translation that they are comfortable with.
In our services we have chosen to use the English Standard Version.
End Times
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men at the return of Christ. The saints will be blessed eternally as they worship in the presence and glory of God. The lost will pay the penalty of eternal destruction away from the presence and glory of God.
We do not believe that the exact timing of events is clear enough in Scripture to be overly dogmatic. However, the leadership of the church holds primarily to what is known as the Historical Premillennial view of the return of Christ – but we do not make any view of the end times a focus of our fellowship and union.
Women
We believe that the Bible instructs that the leaders of the church be men and so we do not have women pastors or elders. However, we value the input and service of the women in our church and so they are vitally involved in all aspects of the life of the body.
